Where I’ve Been

I’ve been here:

In the Annapolis Valley, where I’m from, fall is apple time. I love autumn and had always wanted to pick apples. Well, I had picked before, but I wanted to try it for more than one afternoon.

In conclusion: apple picking is a great activity but a dubious occupation. Well, unless you’re a lot faster at it than I am.

I’m back now. I will decide on some apple recipes to share soon!

love,

    Greetings Meg,
Love edible library concept. To date, My ”find” of 2011. Discovered site yesterday, and am ordering ”eggplant” book from Amazon as not available at my library. I, too, read (though mostly non-fiction) and derive much enjoyment from cooking. Ages since I read Cod but found it, and all of Mark Kurklansky’s other books, excellent.
Wonder if you’ve ever come across Elizabeth Jolley’s ”The Orchard Thieves” – written in 1995 when she was 72. Examines mother-daughter relationships, and, interestingly, none of the characters are named, each instead being identified by relationship. And there are recipes.
Cheers, have bookmarked your page and will take a peek from time to time.
    Marian
PS: Remembered “Orchard Thieves” last night. Had not seen “Where I’ve been”. Encountered it only when looking for way of emailing you. What serendipity!
