This is a packaged snack/cookie thing I found recently in my local (Montreal) Vietnamese grocery store, Marche Oriental. The product itself is from Taiwan, from what I can gather, but I was told by a Japanese woman that it is a brand she recognizes from Japan. She said the bear is supposed to be the type that is found in Hokkaido.
Anyway, history aside, I bought this because I liked the package. It’s so… powerful?
But how does it taste?

Doesn’t look overly appetizing, does it?
I didn’t realize this until I opened one of these little cookie rolls, but it supposed to be a peanut butter & chocolate flavour. It had some chocolatey powder (not cocoa powder, oilier) on the outside and a smudge of peanut butter in the hollow spot in the middle. Overall, it was an okay snack. Packaged cookies aren’t generally my thing.
But the name and logo are killer! I like to think that the ‘Caution’ is meant to warn the bear about the people, instead of vice-versa. Imagine a lone Hokkaidan bear finding one of these wrappers on the ground in the woods– he reads the Caution, Bear! label and quickly scampers off to avoid the people who traveled to his mountain and left the litter.
