I made the tea with fresh tumeric and fresh ginger root. The combination is perfect. It is delicious! The first time I made it, we added a bit of honey. Later we discovered it didn't need the honey. I give it to my 8-yr-old, when she has the flu. For myself, I like to drink it all the time. Thank you for your post!

Hi there,

I took your basic recipe and made a separate topping with some left over trail mix- almonds sunflower seeds and the cocoa that would not mix in the other blended it in my vitamix. Put the chocolate layer on the bottom and the pea-nutty on the top. it's like a reese's, and the 5 and 3 year old love it!. Thanks

Hi, Meaghan,

My husband and I lived in Japan many years ago, and shiso was one of the herbs I fell in love with. I'm trying to find a way to incorporate them into our food a little more often so that we can also take advantage of the many health benefits of the plant as well. I'm not brave enough to plant them in the garden though. I think a planter will have to do.

Cheers, and thanks for blogging about your perilla pesto!

Thanks for the Blog! I was able to find Tumeric Root at Whole Foods. I put sliced tumeric root 2 tbl spn. and ginger root 2 tbl spn. in a sm blinder with stevia and 1/4 cup of soy milk. blend well and ad to a cup or two of hot water. Makes for a very healthy hot drink. Warms the bones and joints
